Horizon Playa Vista BuildingHorizon at Playa Vista, a modern urban office development encompassing 466,000 square feet of space, has been awarded LEED Core & Shell (CS) Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, making it the first ground-up office building construction in Los Angeles to achieve the distinction in this category.

Horizon at Playa Vista was developed by Lincoln Property Company and ASB Real Estate Investments, and consists of two, five-story buildings surrounded by pedestrian pathways and open courtyard spaces.  The office building’s proximity to more than 3,100 homes earned the project points toward certification, as did the project’s alternative transportation program, which includes preferred parking for carpooling vehicles and bicycle storage.

The project also features a comprehensive storm water management program capable of removing 80% of all suspended solids from storm water runoff around the building, will use renewable energy sources to power 70% of the building’s core and shell electricity needs, and includes various indoor chemical and pollutant source control measures to enhance indoor air quality and contribute to the comfort and well-being of future occupants.
